Brandon, the county seat of Rankin County, occupies 21.3 square miles of land in Rankin County. If you are in the City of Brandon, and you are charged with a traffic violation, a misdemeanor, or a criminal offense, the Brandon Municipal Court has jurisdiction over these matters. Hearings for city ordinance violations are also held at Brandon Municipal Court. Initial Appearances for those accused of felonies also take place in Brandon Municipal Court.
