As an example, an employee who loses a leg may be entitled to 175 weeks of lost wage compensation, while a lost arm could entitle the same worker to 200 weeks of permanent partial disability.
Temporary total disability payments will be made to those who are temporarily unable to work at all following their job-related injury. Temporary total disability is paid at 2/3rds of the worker’s average weekly pay, and can continue for as long as 450 weeks. Finally, permanent total disability benefits are paid for those who are injured on the job and will never be able to work at any type of job again.
Permanent total disability benefits are paid at 66 2/3rds of the worker’s average weekly salary, and will begin once the worker reaches his or her maximum medical improvement (while remaining permanently disabled or handicapped).
