When Court Meets: Wednesdays at 9:00 am. If you are charged with traffic or misdemeanor offenses while in the city of Canton, the Canton Municipal Court will be where you go for hearings. Canton Municipal Court also holds hearings regarding violations of city ordinances.
Canton, one of Mississippi’s most historic towns with many motion pictures filmed here such as “To Kill a Mockingbird,” lies just north of Madison. If you are charged with a traffic violation or any criminal offense within in the town of Canton, your appearance date will be in Canton Municipal Court. Initial appearances for felonies will also be held at Canton Municipal Court.
Arrests made by officers with the Canton Police Department will be resolved in the Canton Municipal Court. The Madison County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Mississippi Highway Patrol also has authority to make arrests in this area.
