Drug Bust in Jackson, MS

At the time of the news report, law enforcement officers were still conducting a search of the home.

Marijuana Charges in Jackson

Thanks to the War on Drugs and other draconian laws associated with certain controlled substances, it doesn’t take much marijuana to end up with felony charges. More than 30 grams of marijuana means you’re facing felony charges. Depending upon exactly how much marijuana is associated with your case, you could also be facing additional charges that would increase the possible prison sentence, if convicted. Mandatory minimums also mean that there is very little discretion in certain drug cases. It won’t make a difference if your charges are non-violent or if you’re a first-time offender.

Felony Drug Charges

Although many states are legalizing medical and recreational marijuana, it’s still considered a Schedule I drug. This means it’s classified with the worst of the worst. The federal government considers marijuana on the same level as heroin, and the penalties associated with Schedule I drug charges are typically very severe. If you’re facing charges involving Schedule I drugs, you need to get with a proven criminal defense attorney immediately.
