Semi Truck Crash on Highway 49

Last Friday, a car ended up wedged underneath an 18-wheeler on Highway 49 in Richland. According to WLBT MS News Now, the wreck happened just after 7:00 a.m. Two northbound lanes of the highway were blocked as crews worked the scene. There’s no word on the cause of this crash or how the car became wedged underneath the semi truck.

Additionally, no information has been released on the conditions of the occupants involved. Anytime a large semi truck is involved in a wreck, the consequences can be devastating. Tractor trailers are larger, heavier and harder to stop than smaller passenger occupant vehicles. Commercial truck drivers and trucking companies have a variety of federal regulations to follow to ensure roadway safety for all motorists.
